Performance & Efficiency Tuning

ECU Remapping for Turbo Diesels

Stage 1 through to Stage 3, EGR/DPF/AdBlue solutions, speed limiter changes and sound maps — all built around software-based remapping, tailored to your vehicle rather than a generic file off the shelf.

Emissions Solutions

EGR, DPF & AdBlue (SCR) Work

EGR, DPF and AdBlue/SCR software solutions can be carried out where a vehicle has a genuine mechanical fault, or for vehicles used off-road or in motorsport. These changes affect a vehicle's emissions output and road-legal status, so they're discussed honestly with you before any work is booked in.

  • EGR valve software solutions
  • DPF software solutions
  • AdBlue / SCR system solutions

Sound Maps

A bit more drama from the exhaust

On petrol vehicles, pops and bangs tuning adjusts the fuelling map on lift-off throttle to produce crackles, pops and the occasional bang from the exhaust — without hurting how the car drives day to day.

Turbo diesels don't produce the same overrun pops, so instead there's a popcorn limiter (hard-cut) map — a controlled fuel cut at the rev limiter that gives a distinctive popping, anti-lag style stutter. Both are mapped alongside your chosen remap stage, with the aggression level set to suit you.

As with any tune that increases exhaust noise, this can affect roadworthiness/MOT if set too aggressively for road use — we'll set this up sensibly and talk you through it.

Speed Limiters

Speed limiter removal, adjustment & addition

Whether it's removing a factory or fleet-imposed speed limiter, raising an existing limit, or adding a limiter to a vehicle (useful for young or new drivers, or fleet/commercial vehicles), this is done as part of the remap file.

Removal / Increase

Remove or raise a factory, fleet or commercial vehicle speed limiter as part of your remap.

Addition

Add a speed limiter to a vehicle — popular for new drivers, work vehicles or fleet policy.

FAQs

Remapping questions, answered straight

Stage 1 works within the standard hardware for a safe, reliable gain. Stage 2 suits vehicles with supporting mods like an upgraded intercooler or exhaust, allowing a bigger tune. Stage 3 is built around further hardware upgrades such as a bigger turbo or injectors, and is tailored individually.
Performance and economy remapping is legal, but you should inform your insurer as it can affect your policy, and the vehicle must still pass its MOT. Removing emissions equipment (DPF/EGR/AdBlue) is not legal for road use and is offered for off-road/motorsport use only — see our legal notice above.
It can affect a manufacturer or dealer warranty. Your original factory file is always backed up before any work, so the ECU can be put back to standard if needed.
Pops and bangs (petrol) and popcorn/hard-cut tuning (diesel) both adjust fuelling for exhaust effect and can be dialled back for road use. Set too aggressively it can cause an MOT/roadworthiness noise issue — we set this up sensibly and can adjust to suit.
Yes — remaps are available for petrol and diesel vehicles alike. Get in touch with your make, model and engine and it'll be quoted the same as anything else.
Both — Hebden Auto Tech is home-based and offers a mobile service to come to you, or your vehicle can be collected and dropped back once the work is done. Get in touch to arrange whatever's easiest.
